THE QUESTION ITSELF IS WRONG (PELICAN THOUGHTS, MU,AND THE BIG SLEEP): AN ODYSSEY

21.05.2010 - 26.06.2010

The question itself is wrong – your point of departure is wrong! Let go of the preconceived ideas about where you are, what you want, and what you experience.

Go on an odyssey through unknown worlds – through underworlds where all logical sense has stopped and new realities are created. Travel on new roads in your mind, your consciousness, and your dreams. Go on a journey towards a nothingness that turns out to be far more than nothing.

The dreamlike compositions of Thaddeus Strode’s new works play with your expectations and ignite free associations. Strode’s absurd and at times dystopic universes emerge through a wild mix of opposing techniques, inspirations from popular culture such as cartoons, movies, rock music, literature, and graffiti – all added an underlying dark humor.

The new paintings, paper works, wall painting and sculptural installation in the exhibition all display a characteristic combination of figurative elements and an abstract and expressive painterly formalism.

Thaddeus Strode (b. 1964) lives and works in Los Angeles.
