Carlos Amorales' "Partituras para ocarinas por azar" is a series of abstract collages based on a coded alphabet developed over the past decade and used in various artistic projects, including work presented at the 57th Venice Biennale.

Constructed from cut-paper shapes arranged like an unreadable text, the compositions evoke secret messages or fragmented narratives. The works exist in five proportional sizes. While the dimensions of the canvas vary, the scale of the individual forms remains constant, causing larger works to appear increasingly fragmented and complex.

Built entirely from gradients rather than flat colors, the collages generate shifting rhythms of movement and contrast. They also reference the mosaic technique of trencadís, associated with Antoni Gaudí, transforming fragmented forms into dense visual fields that suggest language, memory, and hidden meaning.
