In recent years, Carlos Amorales has investigated the possibilities of color. His latest series, Jungla de estrellas (Star Jungle), uses fragmented abstraction as a visual language. Each canvas begins with collage, a part of the artists’ practice for years, which is itself a repetitive act with cycles of cutting, placing, and pasting. The compositions are highly intuitively guided by aesthetics to formulate indecipherable typography defined by fragmentation.

Carlos Amorales (b. 1970, Mexico City) lives and works in Mexico City, MX.
His work is exhibited in numerous museums around the world, including solo exhibitions at Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (NL); Fondazione Pini in Milan (IT); MUAC in Mexico City (MX); Bampha ArtWall, Berkeley (USA); Philadelphia Museum of Art (USA) and Frieze London with a 50m wall painting from the series Ghost Demonstration, London (UK).
He is represented in several public museum collections, including Museo Tamayo and the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City; Tate Modern, London; The Museum of Modern Art; Guggenheim Museum, New York; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam.
