The painting Happenings, U.S. Pop Art, Nouveau Realisme etc is based on the cover of a German anthology of Pop Art from 1965. All text and other information has been removed and we are left with a painting of an object of graphic design reduced to a mute binary surface of paint and not-paint, black and not-black, underlining the flatness and muteness of the painted (and non-painted) surface. This muteness is amplified in the title listing a series of art movements in a way that borders on the nonsensical.
