It encompasses, in the broadest sense, sculpture, installation, music, architecture, and design. FOS' works explore how the language of objects and space define us as social beings.
FOS is generally interested in how art can function as an alternative to the systems that normally regulate our behaviour in our civil societies. His art often resides in social spaces, which enables new possibilities of sociality to arise – FOS hereby connects art, design and architecture in a hybridform, which he calls ’Social Design’.
FOS' recent solo exhibitions include /ˈpalɪm(p)sɛst/, Nils Stærk, Palimpsest — Hands Worn Smooth by Coins, SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, GA, USA, Maggie Margaret Lives, as part of FIG-2 at ICA, London's one-year project, Porthole, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Declarations of Unsolid Memories, Camden Arts Center, London.
FOS has contributed to art in several public and semipublic areas; Aur(0)a at Vestfyns Gymnasium in Glamsbjerg, 2019, a sculptural intervention in 10.000 m2 park, The interior of Inés, 2017, a 14 meter tower in Vestre Fjordpark, Aalborg, Your Success is Your Amnesia commissioned by Ny Carlsbergfondet installed in front of the school HF-Centret Efterslægten in Copenhagen in 2016.
FOS is educated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen 1999. In 2006 he received the Danish Arts Council's three year working grant and in 2011 the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Scholarship, in 2017 Arken Art Prize, in 2018 the Thomas Bindesbøll Medal and the honorary grant from Aage og Yelva Nilmbs and in 2019 the Albertsen Fonden grant.
FOS is represented in the collections of SMK-National Gallery of Denmark, Arken Museum of Modern Art, Ny Carlsbergfondet, AROS, Aarhus, Denmark and Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, Mexico.
