Using mostly black, white and grey, Eide Einarsson challenged himself to push the limits to add color into his practice. The color become the appropriation and appear as a painting at its most basic – covering a surface. But the connotation as color has a clear reference and background to punk and rock graphic design and used in official graffiti language. The color become a symbol of a culture and used to express energy and motivate action and encourage to creativity.
The work is a part of a series and previously shown in one line. The intention of making a series of paintings was an aesthetic decision and with different attempts on how the surface appeared, how you respond to it as a viewer and how you get trapped into the interior.
As an artist not believing in the possibility to express yourself through paint, but simultaneously a kind of negotiation since you get carried away while painting and get trapped in this interior of logic of painting. The more you paint the more you get carried away and the more you get carried away you believe you can express yourself trough paint. A discomfort inhabited in certain already pre-existing format of artExhibitions
