Viborg Kunsthal, Viborg, DKWhat is the difference between a piece of furniture you have in your home and a sculpture? And what is the difference between storing content and carrying meaning?
For Tove Storch (b. 1981) this is a recurring subject which is processed and attacked in different ways through sculptural studies. For the exhibition in Viborg Kunsthal's east wing, Storch creates a new installation in which she includes personal archive material in the form of all preserved drawings from her childhood and early youth.
In bookcase-like structures of stretched silk and aluminium, the drawings are both displayed and screened. The outermost silk layer is like a blurring membrane that gathers the individual images into a unit: an accumulation of experience that also bears witness to a lost time. The installation is at once extroverted and hesitant, inviting and rejecting its viewer.
