Solo Show

Tove Storch's solo exhibition, Lasheses, opens tomorrow—Thurday, February 13, 2025—at House of Art České Budějovice in the Czech Republic. The show is curated by Michal Škoda and is open until March 16, 2025. House of Art České Budějovice writes:

"We are pleased to announce that the Gallery of Contemporary Art and Architecture in České Budějovice will host Danish artist Tove Storch’s first solo exhibition in the Czech Republic.

The Copenhagen-based artist is known for her innovative sculptures that blur the line between materiality, form, and symbolism. Her art frequently challenges traditional ideas of aesthetic categorization and invites viewers to reconsider how they perceive space and structure. It explores fundamental questions relating to the universe, society, and the nature of creativity, all while presenting a unique perspective on the complexity of the human condition. In Storch’s work, an important role is also played by her interest in the dualistic relationships between the solid and fragile quality of the materials, shapes, and space. She thus chooses to create her architectural and minimalist forms using not only metal and concrete but also more delicate substances that, additionally, are characterized by transparency, for instance silk and paper.

Space plays an important role in Storch’s art as well. Although she generally creates static sculptures, her work also explores movement and spatial relationships. She very convincingly manages to imbue her materials with a physical presence, thus forcing viewers to engage their senses and intensify their perception."
