Charlotte Brüel · HEART – Herning Museum of Contemporary Art

Acquisition

The gallery is proud to share the news that HEART - Herning Museum of Contemporary Art has recently acquired a significant collection of works by Charlotte Brüel, representing key moments in her career. This acquisition is made possible thanks to the generous support of Ny Carlsbergfondet.

Charlotte Brüel (b. 1945) debuted in 1968 at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition after resigning from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in protest against its gender roles. This bold move marked the start of a long and influential art practice, quietly evolving alongside Denmark's established art scene.

Brüel’s work explores the contradiction between nature and human processing. Her acrylic glass displays enclose sculptural studies that invite a comparative gaze and a nonverbal, sensual experience – revealing the simple complexity of her pieces.
