We are proud to announce that SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark has recently acquired Untitled (the bows) , 2024, a significant work by Tove Storch. The piece was first presented in her solo exhibition Glassy Eyes at Glas – Museum of Glass Art, Ebeltoft, DK.
Created in the museum’s glass workshop in close collaboration with glassblower Chris Lowry, the work is part of a new body of sculptures in which Storch explores glass for the first time. Stretching the material to its limits, she transforms it into thread-thin strands and swelling forms that highlight both its fragility and explosive potential.
Untitled (the bows) continues Storch’s long-standing interest in the sculptural “bed” as motif, here rendered in a delicate and atmospheric construction. Charred wooden planks bear the marks of heated glass, while the transparent material oscillates between strength and vulnerability. The work captures the drama inherent in glass – a material that is at once fragile, durable, and unpredictable.
