Art Handling & Logistics Manager
NILS STÆRK is an internationally oriented gallery based in Copenhagen. The gallery represents a number of Danish and international artists and regularly participates in exhibitions, art fairs, and projects in Denmark and abroad.
We are seeking a dedicated, structured, and responsible Art Handling & Logistics Manager for a versatile position involving responsibility for the handling, installation, storage, and transportation of artworks in connection with exhibitions, art fairs, and sales in Denmark and internationally.
This is a key role within the gallery and requires someone who can combine practical art-handling skills with strong logistical and administrative competencies.
About the Position
You will have overall responsibility for the gallery’s art handling, inventory management, and logistical processes. You will work closely with the gallery team, artists, and external partners to ensure that all artworks are handled professionally and efficiently.
The role includes both hands-on work with artworks and the coordination of national and international shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling, packing, and securely storing artworks.
- Installing and deinstalling exhibitions.
- Preparing artworks for exhibitions, art fairs, and sales.
- Creating installation plans and coordinating exhibition setups.
- Managing the gallery’s inventory.
- Planning and coordinating the transportation of artworks nationally and internationally.
- Coordinating with transport companies and other external partners.
- Preparing and managing transportation documentation.
- Coordinating customs clearance, import/export procedures, and compliance with regulatory requirements for international shipments.
- Maintaining and improving the gallery’s logistical processes and routines.
Qualifications
We imagine that you:
- Have experience handling artworks.
- Are practical, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality standards.
- Work in a structured manner and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Have experience with inventory management and logistics processes.
- Have knowledge of international transportation, customs procedures, and the import/export of artworks or other valuable objects.
- Are comfortable using digital registration and administrative systems.
- An exciting and varied position in a professional contemporary art environment.

The position is based on 32 hours per week, distributed across four working days and approximately every third Saturday. Flexibility is expected in connection with exhibition openings, art fairs, and special events.
