We Are Hiring A Gallery Assistant

Job posting

Are you a university student with a strong interest in contemporary art, looking for a relevant part-time job alongside your studies?

NILS STÆRK is looking for a motivated, organised and responsible Gallery Assistant to join our team for 16–20 hours per week.

Ideally, you have previous experience working in a gallery or elsewhere in the art world, and a good understanding of the language, practices and procedures of a contemporary art gallery.

You are detail-oriented, structured and proactive, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. You take initiative, work independently and enjoy contributing to a collaborative team. As part of the gallery’s daily staffing, you are also welcoming and approachable and enjoy receiving visitors to the gallery and introducing them to our current exhibitions.

The role

You will support the gallery team in the preparation of physical and digital materials for communicating and promoting the gallery’s activities, including exhibitions and art fairs. Tasks include registering artworks and contacts in our ArtLogic database, maintaining artists’ CVs and preparing newsletters. You will assist with sales and the planning of exhibitions and art fairs, as well as welcoming visitors to the gallery and helping communicate the gallery’s programme.

Experience with ArtLogic, Photoshop and Canva, as well as photo and video editing, would be an advantage. Experience with social media content creation and familiarity with Later would also be beneficial.

We offer a professional and collaborative working environment in an internationally oriented gallery representing Danish and international artists.

Working hours are 16–20 hours per week, including approximately three Saturdays per month from 11 am to 3 pm. The workload varies throughout the year, with busier periods around exhibitions and art fairs.

How to apply

If this sounds like a position for you, please send us your application, including a brief introduction to your current studies, your interest in contemporary art and the skills you would bring to our team.

We review applications on a rolling basis and invite candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis. The position will be filled as soon as we find the right candidate, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Please send your application to anne@nilsstaerk.dk.
