Titled after a Death in June lyric, Power Has a Fragrance collects texts and images related to Gardar Eide Einarsson's 2010 exhibition first held at the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art. As fragmented and elliptical as Einarsson's politically-loaded paintings and sculptures, this thoroughly illustrated catalogue eschews such a book's conventional format in favor of artist-taken studio and exhibition views. Captured somewhere between these two sites, these informal images evoke photos snapped under stealth or carelessly as criminal evidence, fleshing out the ominous political atmosphere referenced throughout his work.
