INGVAR CRONHAMMAR FOUNTAIN II IN MELLEMRUMMET

We are very pleased to present  Ingvar Cronhammar's new  sculpture Fountain II in our exhibition space Mellemrummet. The sculpture will be on display until December 18th 2010.

Fountain II is a more than three meter tall illuminated water sculpture. As the water falls freely from the fountain's top into the basin at the base, the sound drowns out all other noise in the room making it difficult to focus on anything but the falling water.

Ingvar Cronhammar generally works with massive projects. His monumental works contain architectural references, and throughout the years Cronhammer has collaborated with some of Denmark's most acknowledged architects. With a radical artistic and intellectual approach Cronhammar continuously proves how art and architecture can join forces in the best possible way.

Ingvar Cronhammar is currently participating at the group exhibition The Patriarchs at The Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig, DK.

The next exhibition in our main space Ideal Ein Gespräch opening January 14th 2011 will include a new work by Ingvar Cronhammar and a new work by Morten Stræde.

    INGVAR CRONHAMMAR

    1947 – 2021, born in Hässleholm, SE
Lived and worked in Herning, DK

Ingvar Cronhammar’s works place themselves in the field between architecture, art, and design. Cronhammer’s work reveals a fascination of the industrial, and throughout the creation process the possibilities of technology are utilized to its full potential. His educational background as a sculptor is expressed in his monumental and often large-scale sculptural installations. A certain futuristic appearance combined with an overall classicistic architectural approach is characteristic for Cronhammar’s works. Throughout his career, Cronhammar has put a significant mark on the Danish public art landscape with his monumental sculptural installations, such as ELIA outside of Herning.

Parallel to Cronhammar’s public sculptures, he rethinks well-known everyday objects and thereby questions the border between art and design. Consistent for his practice is a continuing fascination for industrial aesthetics using materials such as iron, steel and brass. Solo shows of Cronhammar’s works include HEART, Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, DK; Cisternerne, DK; AroS - Aarhus Art Museum, DK; SMK – National Gallery of Denmark, DK; Traphold Museum of Modern Art and Design, DK among others. Group shows of his works include: POLITIKENS Hus (POLITIKENS forhal), DK; Kunstforeningen Gl. Strand, DK; Den Frie – Centre of Contemporary Art, DK and Charlottenborg, DK among others.
