EXHUMED LIMY POOLe. 2023, Public COMMISSION
Guldborgsund, DKLea Porsager's Exhumed Limy Pool was created for Fuglsang Kunstlandskab in the desire to establish a gathering point in front of the museum with respect for the cultural history and geography of the place. It is a work of art designed with plant beds and an excavated area that mirrors the historic irrigation pond, which is also on the lawn, in terms of scale and placement. Porsager's pool is half a meter deep and thereby mimics the height of the "coastal cliff" that can be found down by Skejten – a protected nature area next to the water, which lies in a straight line from the lawn at the end of the paved road.
In terms of material, the Exhumed Limy Pool is bounded on both long sides by a stone setting that reflects the area's many protected stone dykes, and the pool is filled with clam shells, which are calcareous and thereby point back to the site's lime deposits in the subsoil.
In the middle of the field there are three sculptures in aluminium, which are positioned so that they form a horseshoe formation, in which you can take a seat. The sculptural design of the "benches" has clear references to the horseshoe and thus reminds of the history of the place where horses have played an important role.
