Newly released, “Tom Sandberg: Photographs” is the first major publication dedicated to one of Norway’s most important photographers.

Working in a signature modulating gray scale, the late Norwegian photographer Tom Sandberg spent decades rendering the world according to an exacting vision, training his eye on the shapes and forms of the everyday—dark abstractions of asphalt and sea, the hard edges of an automobile, an ominously curved tunnel, an anonymous figure casting a shadow—to plumb the nature of photographic seeing.

His pictures are subtle yet transformative, studies of stillness that radiate mystery. A perfectionist in the darkroom, Sandberg was acutely sensitive to the rich spectrum of black and white, and his handmade prints, at times printed on aluminum and canvas, project a powerful physical presence. Although Sandberg is esteemed in his native Norway and throughout Scandinavia and Europe, his oeuvre is less known in the United States and other parts of the world. This monograph, produced in close collaboration with the Tom Sandberg Foundation in Oslo, is a long-overdue celebration of this distinguished artist.

DESCRIPTION
Eduardo Terrazas has explored a lifetime’s worth of questions about the nature of the universe through the microcosm of his images. He derives his visual reflections with a basic geometric structure and a technique that is inspired by the Huichol tablas from Mexican indigenous tribes. His highly colourful and playful series "Possibilities of a Structure" – of which Cosmos is a subseries – has been an ongoing project since 1974 and comprises over 650 works until today: an artistic exploration of the boundaries of the infinite.

De har kørt gennem landsbyer, hvor rækker af tilgroede, forladte huse i dag – med Cronhammars ord – ”står som halvkvalte skrig og med vinduernes tomme øjne” og gennem svimlende smukke hedestrækninger, hvor kunstneren bliver utilpas ved vindmøllernes skalering i forhold til landskabets naturlige fikspunkter. De har siddet i middelalderkirker og talt om Cronhammars religiøse anfægtelser og det, han kalder sine anelser (læs: inspiration), der kan opstå ud af intet. ⁠⠀

Ingvar Cronhammar søger håbet og lyset, men tumler med troen, tvivlen og mørket. Han er svær at overse i det offentlige rum og i kunstcirklerne; men han er normalt meget tilbageholdende og privat. Carlos Amorales – The Factory is the first European retrospective exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Carlos Amorales. It showcases the work of one of Mexico’s most important contemporary artists from the 1990s to the present day.

Carlos Amorales made an extraordinary artist book that accompanies the exhibition, together with the Amsterdam-based designers Mevis & Van Deursen. Amorales collaborated with Mevis & Van Deursen in 2000 on his first book Los Amorales, which is now a collector’s item.
